Painter
1947-2022

"Georges Coulomb is a painter of sensation, of lyrical roots in the world, of dazzlement. An ambassador of the Provençal school, he bears the vibrant imprint of Provence.
With his unique style, he translates the exuberance of southern colors into his canvases. His practice is far from sketch-based; he doesn't paint from the motif, but dips his brushes in the very ink of his memory.
Coulomb throws in flat strokes, stretching the colors of his palette in masses. In his élan, he reconstitutes reality, drawing on its most subjective roots, and takes a fresh look at the world.
From earth to sky, what the painter gives us to see and perceive is the dazzling vitality and beauty of the Earth and its promises. The blue planet is a paradise, no melancholy here, no shadows, life is a powerful hymn to joy, to earthly nourishment."
Georges Coulomb: Provence as a heritage
Georges Coulomb, born November 25, 1947 in Port-de-Bouc and died July 13, 2022, was a self-taught artist. He began with sculpture before turning to painting in 1970, becoming a contemporary figurative expressionist artist.
Coulomb lived his entire life in Port-de-Bouc, Provence, where he drew inspiration from the seascape, the canal that ran alongside his neighborhood, and the port and fishing trades. His childhood holidays spent in Varages, a small village in the Var region where his paternal family came from, in the fields with the shepherd during harvest and grape harvest time were also a great source of inspiration for him. He co-founded a group of painters and sculptors in his town, called "Formes et Couleurs," which offered meetings, debates, and art exhibitions. He was also one of the driving forces behind the Mediterranean Salon of Plastic Arts.
Coulomb has exhibited his paintings in France and abroad, notably in the United States and Japan. He is listed and listed in the AKOUN international guide.
